Nurturing Eyes to See

Seeing the World Clearly Through New Lenses from the Lord

Ability to see clearly through new lenses
Ability to see clearly through new lenses

I had a dream not long ago. In it, I was cleaning out some drawers and came across some old contact lenses. They still looked fine, but I remembered I hadn’t worn contacts in over 20 years. My prescription has changed a lot since then, and my eyes aren’t used to them anymore. When I woke up, the dream lingered with me all day. As I reflected on this, the Holy Spirit revealed that I required new lenses for today. I needed an adjustment to see clearly now, as the old lenses are no longer effective.

Practically speaking, there are ways we can partner with God to receive these new lenses. For example, spending time in prayer asking God to help you see from His perspective is a powerful place to start. Journaling can also help you process what He reveals to you, allowing you to notice patterns or new insights in your life. Opening your heart to wise counsel from spiritually mature believers can provide new viewpoints and encouragement. Studying the Bible with a fresh mindset, asking the Holy Spirit to highlight truths you have missed before, can help you adjust your vision as well. As you practice these habits, you will begin to notice your perspective changing and your clarity increasing.

The Bible frequently mentions people not having eyes to see and ears to hear. It is not about being physically blind and deaf, but being unable to perceive what is happening. The Jews did not perceive that Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah, and they missed the blessing He had for them. Can you imagine having the opportunity to sit and talk with your Messiah but missing it because you could not perceive who Jesus was? In the same way, we as modern believers can sometimes miss Jesus’ presence, guidance, or comfort in our own lives. We might get caught up in the distractions and cares of this world and fail to recognize where God is at work around us. That is why it is so important to ask the Lord to open our eyes and ears, so we do not miss out on the blessings and direction He wants to give us today.

Do you recall the magic eye images? To discover the concealed picture, you needed to look beyond the surface of the image. This is what the Lord invites you to do: to see beyond what appears at first glance.

AI, UFO, UAP, WWIII

Flying saucers: Real or Science Fiction?
Flying saucers: Real or Science Fiction?

My brother-in-law has been playing with AI to create goofy pictures of my husband. If I didn’t know better, I would think they were real.  Every week, my Mom questions me about YouTube videos that she thinks are real, but aren’t.  UFO/UAP files have been declassified, and we are discovering that much of what we believed to be myths and hoaxes is actually true.  Depending on who you are listening to, WWIII and the end of the world are just days away.

Much like Elisha's servant, Gahazi, we can get caught up in what we are seeing and hearing around us.  We need to pray the prayer Elisha prayed, Lord, open his eyes that he may see (1 Kings 6:17).  It is when He opens your eyes and ears that you can perceive the truth of a matter. God wants you to know what is going on behind the scenes so that your prayers align with what He is doing.  This blessing also enables you to stay at peace, minister to others, and remain in faith. Here is a simple prayer to get you started.

Heavenly Father,

I come before You with a surrendered heart, asking that You open my eyes to see with clarity and my ears to hear with understanding. Remove every veil of distraction, fear, or confusion that keeps me from perceiving the truth of what is happening around me. Grant me discernment to recognize Your hand at work and wisdom to respond in ways that honor You. Let my words carry kindness, my actions reflect Your love, and my presence bring peace to those in need.

In Jesus Name, Amen

Nurturing our New Lenses

Blurry vision may occur during the time of adjustment.
Blurry vision may occur during the time of adjustment.

Any time you get fitted for a new pair of lenses, there is a period of adjustment. For a time, your vision may be distorted, causing confusion and even making you sick. But as you adjust to seeing through the new lenses, the world around you becomes clearer and sharper.

During this time, it is vital that you hold on to Jesus and His Word.  Stay focused on what you know to be true until your vision clears and you are comfortable with your new lenses. Let’s face it, change is uncomfortable. There are days I want to go back to the old days, when if you had a picture, it was real, and UFOs were science fiction. But the simple truth is you are living in this world at this time because God believes you can handle it.  As Mordecai told Esther, “Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”

Below are some of the scriptures I’ve been hanging onto as my vision adjusts.

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38-39 New Living Translation

“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].”

 Philippians 4:6-7 Amplifies Bible

“For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Romans 10:13 New King James

“The Lord GOD has given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him who is weary. He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear to hear as the learned.

The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, nor did I turn away.”

Isaiah 50: 4-5 New King James

The New Lens

Fear will diminish, joy will return, and peace will begin to rule!
Fear will diminish, joy will return, and peace will begin to rule!

As God opens your eyes and ears, you will begin to perceive things from His perspective.  Fear will diminish, joy will return, and peace will begin to rule your hearts and minds. As I was writing,

this song jumped into my mind. What a great confession of our new lenses!

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone

I can see all obstacles in my way

Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind

It's gonna be a bright

(Bright), bright (bright)

Sun-shiny day

It's gonna be a bright

(Bright), bright (bright)

Sun-shiny day

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone

All of the bad feelings have disappeared

Here is the rainbow I've been prayin' for

It's gonna be a bright

(Bright), bright (bright)

Sun-shiny day
