My One Word of the Year for 2025 was "Dare". It was a word that challenged me all year to keep going and look forward. Many days when I was tempted to give up, I heard the Lord whisper, "I dare you".

How "Dare" Impacted My Year
"Dare" was more than just a verb; it was a call to action. It challenged me to confront fears, take risks, and embrace uncertainty.
Business challenges: I had to decide what I was going to do with jodelights! moving forward. Do I close up shop or do I dare to continue? I ended up daring to change website host and start my website over.
Health challenges: Essential/Familiar Tremors, Early stages of Parkinson's, and kidney stones that landed my in the hospital were some challenges I faced. Dare was a challenge to discover work-arounds for everyday tasks. For example, I use a heavier coffee cup and only fill it half way.
Personal challenges: The biggest challenge this year was learning to cope with a lack of motivation, apathy, and sleepiness caused the medications I'm now taking. Some days my daring adventure consisted of just getting out of my chair and doing something.
This word captured a spirit of bravery and willingness to step into the unknown. Dare to keep pushing boundaries and to view challenges as opportunities.

Practical Ways I Embraced "Dare" in 2025
"Dare" encouraged a mindset where taking risks was necessary for growth and progress. It opened my up to new possibilities.
I began reaching out for help: When I can't handle something on my own, I make sure to ask for a hand.
Find new way to be creative: Big motion hobbies like gardening is replacing fine motion hobbies such as quilting.
Set small challenges: Fine motion tasks such as writing, measuring ingredients, and threading needles must happen on my least shaky days.
Learn from failure: Understand that daring involves setbacks, but each failure is a learning opportunity. Discovering new ways of doing things became necessary.
Reflect regularly: Take time to think about moments when I dared and what I learned from them.

The Lasting Impact of "Dare"
As the year closes, the word "dare" leaves a lasting impression. It reminds me to step outside my comfort zones and face uncertainty with courage. If I dare to believe, I can do all things through Christ. I dare to live, love, and laugh without fear of the future.
From "dare" to "nurture"
For 2026, the Lord is guiding me to nurture what He dared me to begin in 2025. This involves nurturing a positive attitude, strengthening my trust in Him concerning my future, nurturing relationships, and developing my business.
I'll be writing more about my nurturing journey throughout 2026. I'll see you then!
